If you have further questions feel free to reply and we would be glad to assist. The Wife's laptop is a little old but not yet ready to upgrade. She was having connectivity / bandwidth issues, though, and her laptop's BIOS uses a whitelist for which internal wireless cards it'll allow to work, so I couldn't just upgrade the internal card to something modern (didn't want to hack the BIOS either). Our wireless router is pretty powerful, but we have over 30 devices connected to it, a mixture of B, G, N, and AC on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. The devices using older protocols are on the 2.4GHz network, so I guessed that was causing her problems; those with modern protocols on the 5GHz work fine. Her internal card doesn't support 5GHz, though, regardless of protocol. So I got this one. Pretty easy setup, and the optional USB extension allows keeping from having to plug the bulky thing directly into her laptop and clogging up desk space as well as placing it a couple feet closer to the router. Got her set up on the 5GHz network using AC protocol. She hasn't had any problems since. Or at least any problems with her wireless connection.. We've been using it a few months now, long term reliability TBD. Comments are closed.
